August 2024

2024 enters its second half – what does that mean for the property market?

Welcome to our summer 2024 newsletter – despite mixed weather so far this summer, we really hope you’ve had some fun in the sun somewhere. When August arrives, it feels like we are racing into autumn and winter, so let’s hold on to that summer feeling as best we can….

What a year 2024 has been so far, both at home and beyond.

We knew that a General Election was on the cards for this year, but we probably didn’t expect it to come as early as it did. A new government heralds many changes, with new intent and new policies. In our newsletter, we bring you views on how the new government’s policies will impact the housing market, property investment and more.

Property investment is still an extremely sound investment over the long term: as property values increase, investors are set to benefit from returns. But there are still risks and complexities that need to be seriously considered. So we’re pleased to share some excellent FAQs in this newsletter that will help first time investors, and those wanting to add to their property portfolio, make informed decisions.

The UK property market is stabilising, and we always like to share market overviews with you – whether you are interested in residential or rental property markets, these overviews will undoubtedly be of interest.  And as I write this introduction, the Bank of England have literally just announced that interest rates will be cut to 5% – the first cut since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, which seems incredible.  This is very positive news for home owners, especially those on tracker mortgages.

As you may know, we moved to a new property in Sawbridgeworth in 2023, and we have now completed our property renovation! For those of us that share the ‘property bug’, there is no better feeling than investing, renovating, and then enjoying our properties! And if you’re interested in interior design, then you’ll be interested in our feature on Katie Malik Design Studio.

Our team is always on hand to advise, so do pick up the phone if you need a chat.

If you have any topics you’d like us to feature or discuss, please let us know  – just pop me an email to lesley@slrwealth.com.
