December 2024
2024 draws to a close – it has been quite a year
Welcome to our December 2024 newsletter – it feels like just yesterday that I was writing the introduction to our previous newsletter. This year really has flown by.
2024 has been a bit of a rocky road, with so much happening politically, both here at home in the UK and beyond. Overall, global economic growth is stable if a little underwhelming, and there are huge growth variations by region.
The new UK government has introduced policies and legislation that will impact the UK housing market and the prospects for property investors. Market activity is set to increase in 2025, but there are factors to consider including inflation, the North-South divide, and the reinstatement of stamp duty at lower thresholds. As always, SLR Wealth and partners have experience and expertise across the property investment portfolio that can assist investors.
Property investment remains attractive and provides great opportunities to build a portfolio of investments. In this newsletter, we share an interesting article from our partners at Holland Asset Management that explores these benefits, explains the opportunities, and also outlines the issues to be aware of. No investment is without risk, so doing your homework thoroughly is vital.
Talking of homework, the team at Diligent Eye have highlighted the importance of investors doing their homework before they make investment decisions, getting proper support and guidance from experts – read more in our newsletter below. You wouldn’t buy a car without doing your homework first – well, property is no different: life’s big investments need careful consideration and guidance from those with experience and expertise.
Holiday rental properties in the UK are an exciting investment opportunity: the UK staycation is more and more popular! Read more in our newsletter on the location hotspots, what to look out for, and understand more about the potential to create income from a holiday rental property, with relatively small investment levels too.
Hot off the press – so to speak – Savills have just issued their five-year UK residential property forecast, and it is positive news – we share that article in our newsletter too.
It seems that 2025 will be a year of change on many fronts, with a bit of a rocky road ahead once more. However, one thing is for sure: a new year is a time for renewal and reflection, and whether you decide to make resolutions or not, we all have that feeling that we can start afresh in some small way when a new year commences.
In the words of Hal Borland, American writer and journalist, “Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us“.
So with that in mind, the SLR Wealth team sends its wishes to you and your families for a healthy and peaceful Christmas, and we look forward to being of support to you in the new year. Remember, our team is always on hand to advise, so do pick up the phone if you need a chat.
